Please read through the rules very carefully, once you have grasped the concept you can then practice in one of the many football pens located in every town and city. You will only need a goal at either end of the football pen - a closed in arena with a fence running around it - to play and practice G2G.
1. You will have to be a registered member with Goal2Goal.co.uk to be eligible to enter the tournament.
2. Players are only allowed Two touches of the ball, players touching the ball more than twice will automatically concede a penalty.
3. You are only allowed Seven seconds on the ball when it's in your side of the arena, players exceeding this time limit will concede a penalty.
4. The ball must be placed on a penalty spot to start the game. The two touch rule will then apply; after a goal has been scored the player conceding a goal will then place the ball on their penalty spot and restart the game. The referee will signal the restart and the two touch / seven seconds rule applies from this point.
5. Players are not allowed in their opponents half of the pitch except when taking a penalty. Players who step into their opponents half will automatically concede a penalty. The whole of a players foot must be over the halfway line to be penalised.
6. The ball must not hit the roof of the arena following a shot. Players hitting the roof from a shot will concede a penalty. If no roof exists then the height of the sides of the arena will be the height limit. If a player shoots or mis-controls the ball over a fence, a penalty will be conceded.
7. Players are not allowed to handle the ball except when defending a penalty kick. Players handling the ball other than in a penalty kick situation will automatically concede a penalty. By handle we mean: Anywhere below the elbow will count as a hand ball.
8. If a player has not cleared the ball from their half of the pitch after two touches or seven seconds a penalty will be awarded to their opponent.
9. If the score is level at the end of a game a penalty shoot out will decide the result. The first player to miss will lose the game.
10. If at any time the ball should take a rebound into the goal the goal will stand.
11. In the unlikely event of a player pulling up with a injury during the game the player will be allowed up-to two minutes to recoup and restart the game, the player with the ball at the start of when the injury occurred will restart the game from the penalty spot (rule four will apply) and continue from there. If the injured player cannot continue after the given time the referee shall then award the game to the opposing player. Any time that has been lost during an injury will be added on at the end of full time.
12. The game will last six minutes and thirty seconds each half in the heat stage of the tournament and ten / fifteen minutes each half in the finals depending on what stage it is. Please note, The times of the heats may change depending on volume of entrants. Players will change ends at half time and take a one minute break.
Penalty Kicks.
1a. Penalty takers are only allowed one strike at goal when taking a penalty.
1b. Players are allowed to use their hands when defending a penalty but each touch they have counts as part of the two touch rule.
1c. If a player catches the ball when defending a penalty this will count as one touch, the player then has the opportunity to roll the ball out and use their second touch to try to score.
1d. If the ball rebounds after taking a penalty kick into the penalty taker's side of the arena, the player can then implement the two touch rule from where the ball lies.
1e. As soon as the penalty taker returns to their half of the pitch, the seven second rule will come into effect.
1f. If the penalty taker fails to score a goal after the penalty and the ball stays in the opponent's side of the arena, then they must not touch the ball. If the penalty taker touches the ball in the opponent's side of the arena, a penalty will be awarded to the opposing player.
1g. Players must attempt to get back to their side of the arena to defend their goal as quickly as possible.
1h. Players defending a penalty kick situation must remain on the goal line at all times, a player is allowed to move across the goal line but not out from it, if a player moves out from the goal line before the penalty has been taken a re-kick will be awarded. 1i. The two touch rule applies to the defending player if a penalty is missed. Play starts as soon as the penalty is missed. If the player scores, rule four will come into effect. The two touch and seven second rules apply to the defending player as soon as the result of the penalty is determined.
Referees.
1. The referee's decision will be final and players must abide by all refereeing decisions.
2. Any player showing dissent to the referee or disrespect to their opponent will concede a penalty.
3. The referee has the power to award the match against any player showing persistent dissent or disrespect.
G2G would like to add that we encourage honesty and sportsmanship among players when playing our game. Accept that mistakes happen and treat people the way you wish to be treated. We believe all players should show respect to their rivals and referees.
